Community & National Updates:

This program on January 9 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. will explore various technologies that will assist you in being more efficient in your practice. The panelists will discuss everything from how to use the integrated firm-wide technology you probably have already, such as Microsoft Teams, more effectively; trial preparation software that integrates deposition and trial materials with e-discovery databases; and a litigation management software platform – Factbox. The panelists include government and private sector attorneys. Time will be allotted for others on the webinar to share additional technologies which they have found useful in their practice.

In what the Solicitor General predicted would be a “convulsive shock to the legal system,” in late June 2024 the U.S. Supreme Court overruled the Chevron doctrine in the case of Loper Bright v. Raimondo. In the six months since, lower courts and litigants have been left to wrestle with the unanswered questions on what exactly comes next. This webinar on January 16 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. will explore what those unanswered questions are, how the lower courts have approached the issues so far, and what Loper Bright and the changed landscape on agency deference is likely to mean for the future of environmental law.

This panel on January 22 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. will discuss factors and considerations to keep in mind when using translation and interpretation services with clients inside and outside of the courtroom. These include how to access and choose a translator or interpreter, when to get a certified translator or interpreter involved, and how to ensure that the individual is certified to work within your state’s courtroom. All attorneys should be interested in how to incorporate these resources into their practice.
