POWER Act Presentation

On August 20, 2020, the San Diego Chapter and the Lawyer Representatives of the Southern District partnered with the Southern District of California in hosting the District’s annual POWER Act public event. This free Zoom webinar educated attorneys as to the pro bono opportunities available in San Diego to help survivors of domestic violence and equipped attorneys with resources and tools to effectively represent these survivors. The panel of speakers included: Dr. Ramona Probasco, Psy. D., MFT, NCC, a domestic violence counselor and author of Healing Well and Living Free from an Abusive Relationship; the Honorable Katherine A. Bacal, San Diego Superior Court Judge; Jamie Beck, President and Managing Attorney of Free to Thrive, a San Diego-based nonprofit that provides legal services to human trafficking survivors; and Stephanie M. Baez, Supervising Attorney for the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program, a nonprofit providing pro bono services to victims of domestic violence. The Honorable Cynthia A. Bashant, United States District Court Judge, Southern District of California, served as moderator. Webinar attendees submitted questions during the program.
