Apply for the Board of Directors:
As an all-volunteer organization, the San Diego FBA's success depends on its Board of Directors and the many members who donate their time.
There will be three positions available on the Board of Directors, and we encourage interested candidates to apply. The Chapter is looking for dedicated individuals who can help the organization achieve its mission. Candidates must submit a Statement of Interest by September 30.

During this Courtroom Conversation, attendees will have the opportunity to network and connect with colleagues and District Judge Bencivengo and Magistrate Judge Gallo during the first 20 minutes of the program. During the remaining 40 minutes of the program, Judges Bencivengo and Gallo will discuss the dynamic of how Magistrate and District Judges work together as well as their paths to the federal bench and practice pointers for civil and criminal practitioners

Together with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California, we are pleased to present the Eighteenth Annual Judith N. Keep Federal Civil Practice Seminar.
This year’s seminar will feature welcome remarks from Ninth Circuit Chief Judge Mary H. Murguia and panel presentations by thirteen U.S. District and Magistrate Judges. The presentations will focus on various aspects of pretrial and trial practice, including class certifications, jury selection, opening and closing statements, and more. The seminar will conclude with a hosted reception.

Community and National Updates:
The Southern District announced the selection of Heather L. Rosing as the 2022 recipient of the Hon. David H. Bartick Award for Civility and Professionalism. The award will be presented at the State of the District event on October 26, 2022.
On August 15, 2022, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California appointed David D. Leshner as a full-time U.S. Magistrate Judge. The San Diego FBA welcomes Judge Leshner to the Southern District's bench.
FBA National shares updates on judicial nominations, judgeship legislation, and judicial security.
Outgoing FBA President Anh Kremer shares that it's been a privilege to advocate on issues that are important to our federal courts and practitioners and to cement the FBA as the go-to resource for nonpartisan input on matters that impact the federal judiciary and federal practice.
FBA National urges members to contact U.S. Representatives from California to support passage of the Daniel Anderl Judicial Security and Privacy Act, a policy priority of the organization.
